Our pets love their toys!! Some dogs can be so destructive with their toys that it can be scary. You don't want your dogs (especially energetic puppies) eating and destroying your furniture and home. So of course toys and treat are the first things we turn to. Treats can be bad if they are given to often, and some toys just don't last (not worth the money) and/or don't keep their attentions.
You need to find toys that will keep your dogs attention and hopefully wont be pulled apart within an hour of you presenting them to your dog.
Tip:
Learn from past experience. If you know your dog doesn't really play with balls then try a rope or chewing stick. If your dog tears up a stuffed toy in 5 minutes, try something stronger.
If your dog is overly excited about balls, be cautious of tennis balls. If your dog chews on tennis balls often, and it's like your dogs pacifier be careful they aren't ingesting anything. The fuzz on tennis balls can be pulled off, be careful that your dog doesn't end up actually eating the tennis ball. Lacrosse balls are sturdier and bounce just as well, they could be an alternative ball to give to your dog.
You should also be careful of stuffed animals, especially those with squeaky parts. You don't want your dog eating the squeaker and causing intestinal issues. Fluff, although softer, should also Not be ingested. With my dog, whenever we were giving a stuffed toy we would open a small section and empty the toy out, then give him the shell of the toy. If your dog is really destructive and tries tearing the stuffed animals apart, keep an eye on them so they don't eat the pieces they pull off.
I definitely recommend Congs. They are stronger then thick plastic toys and you can add peanut butter or small treats to the inside for them to have a small snack and keep the occupied. Congs come in different sizes too, so if you have a puppy or a smaller dog, you don't have to worry about it being too big for them.
